Rug Structure and Raw Material

Hand made carpets are made of three main structures
1.Wraps
2.Wefts
3.Knots
Warps and wefts give shape to the rug, triangle, rectangle, circle and more
Warp winding: Warps are woven vertically and are parallel to each other they run from beginning to the end of a rug, knots are tied on top of wraps . The wraps are woven alternatively in front and back. The wraps woven in the back are underneath and wraps on the front are on the top. The main goal in separating wraps in two section top and bottom is to create a distance and an X form between each one.
There are two type of wrap windings:
A. Persian
B. Turkish
Wraps : are made alternatively in front and back. The wraps woven in  the back are underneath, and the wraps woven in the front are on top. The main goal of separating wraps is to create a distance and an x form between them.
The fibers are tied on top of wraps.
Wefts: The carpet weft's are made of strings that are woven horizontally across the width of the carpet. They are two groups of wefts
1.Counter shed
2.Weaving shed
Counter sheds wefts are normally piled strings they make the surface of carpet to raise up

Weaving sheds are thinner and go on top of the x like figure in weaving
